Breast Cancer Awareness

BurmaThis page is in memory of my beautiful mother and best friend, Burma Jean Ewing.  My mother lost her battle with breast cancer August 14, 2009. I will always be thankful to have had a mother who cared for me, gave unselfishly to me, and loved me unconditionally. I, along with all who knew her, will always remember her for her courage, determination, and unrelenting faith during life and throughout her battle with this dreadful disease. Even as she battled cancer she remained concerned about others; always trying to help whenever she could. That was her way!

I won’t forget her faithfulness to God and family even during her illness. She never complained and always tried to uplift us while experiencing very sick moments.  Mom was always so grateful for any small deed that was done for her and always wanted to make sure those in contact knew she was grateful. Her strength, courage, and faithfulness will remain in our hearts and minds forever.

Her legacy of always having a caring and compassionate spirit for others continues to be remembered in all of our lives. She touched so many people.  The faith, dignity, and grace she demonstrated even during her illness will be a testimony for so many family and friends. She was beautiful inside and out – a virtuous, earthly angel we will always remember.

In 2011, I teamed up with Susan G. Komen to raise awareness and monies for breast cancer.  Each year Burma’s Dream Team has reached and exceeded our financial goals to support Breast Cancer Awareness and to find a cure.  My mother planned on walking with me but she did not get the opportunity.  Now she walks with us in spirit every single year.  Women over 40 years old please get your yearly mammograms and remember to self-check your breast often.  No one knows your body better than you.  In addition, click on the link below for more information and please join us every year as Burma’s Dream Team walks for a cure.

Race for the Cure is Saturday, April 18, 2015. Location is downtown Indianapolis at the Military Park. Hope you can join us and please feel free to donate to Burma’s Dream Team for a Cure.  Last year we raised over $2500.00 and this year our goal is $3000.00. I know we can do it again with your generous donations. See links below for more information and thank you in advance! Please hit on the “Burma’s Dream Team” link to give!
